This scenario seems intriguing, I want to find out what happened. However, the QTEs weight down the experience considering how long the sequences are, namely the first and third ones.
Great art as always, and I'm quite intrigued in the story (in, admittedly, an artificial way), and I'm ready to see where this story goes if possible.
But, once a downer, always a downer, don't take none of what's coming as insult (❤!); Tip top: I felt my skin decompose at real time while playing this game, maybe liven up the pace a little bit?
Then, as aforementioned, the story is inflated with artificial questions like "Who's Reginald? What happened? Why?" though it doesn't feel quite natural, none of my own pointers here.
The puzzles are flat and unintelligent (not a dig); I just don't feel intrigued by them or smart when I solve them, square block goes in square hole. Combined with the pace, means that you lost 20-30 minutes to just walking to the puzzle, rather than solving it or having fun with it.
QTEs, mixed? I feel like if there as one thing differentiating the game from interactive fiction, then that thing should probably be fun or unique, game-like? I trust there's something a bit more intriguing.
Overall though, a good prologue, a pretty decent experience. Good work, AK!
was able to get all the wrong endings than the real ending after failing basically every 'mini-game!' even if its a demo I still love seeing the gang back together. so many questions.. so many things I am curious about.. though besides that, even with its short gameplay its another good game by arcade kitten :D
I had to play this game again and I managed to reduce my time considerably. The first gameplay took more than 40 minutes. Now I managed to finish it in less than 30. I'm still curious about the game's plot.
YES!! I love this game so much so far :D Me and my gf played through the prologue last night and the puzzles were my favorite part :) its a great little game to play along with someone that can remember little details that i cant :P OH and the artstyle,,, WOW!!!! its so lovely and i think it made the experience a lot more enjoyable and more fun to look at, reminds me of a childrens book! we will look forward to seeing what happens next, and i recommend that everyone play this game NOW! like RIGHT NOW in 5 mins pls
RAHHH! back to be a supporter:) Love the prologue so far, its so well done and props to the artist who made the mirror image, I enjoy the new spam key interactions ( I genuinely struggled and had to redo it 3 times because I cant read and thought you had to spam in a specific order lmaoo) and I can't wait for the full game as I know your games never disappoint !! I also enjoy the statuette music box detailing (the wolf with three limbs and a little red riding hood type character) Once again, keep up the great work and thank you!!
You're really showing your versatility with this new point-and-click adventure. Very well done-- and I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment to find out what's really going on. Is it some kind of dream-world? Cheers!
So I played it! And I definitely have some words! /lht
Lmao no but this game was SUCH a good start for the series!! I am genuinely so excited to get wrapped up in another one of your projects and it is so great to see the Cemetary Mary gang in a full game after a little while. The point and click style was an awesome decision to go with! I really love how it's just the right amount of interactive, and overall, I'd say the puzzles/clues to progress the story were fairly simple and fun to achieve! The QTEs definitely caught me off guard a couple of times, but once you do them once or twice you get it pretty quickly, so I'd say it was all good. I am absolutely in love with the characters and story you have built, so I am SOOO excited for whenever the next part comes out! Though the prologue wasn't crazily story driven, it did absolutely hook me, and I am so curious as to what plans you have for this one! You have made so much progress and improved so much over these games and I am truly so hyped for the release of My Wishmaker! Keep up the great work and I can't wait for the next one!
---SPOILERS---
as for crowven, you will be hearing from my lawyer /j
First of all, congratulations for the release of the demo! I didn't expect a point-and-click game and I'm so excited, can't wait to see the full game! It's so, SO GOOD! I think you can excel in basically any genre you're getting your hands at, it's the 3rd change of genre in the saga and your love and care poured into the making of My Wishmaker shows a lot! Also, I know Reggie probably deserves all that came unto him, but I couldn't help myself but feel sorry for the arm! ;__; The demo is really well done, the art is fantastic, but there are some tweaks that might improve the experience. Mind that I really liked the game and I think it's impressive! It's just that I'm really bad in explaining myself in short sentences:
>>> SPOILERS <<<
1- allow the player to set the speed of Reggie; personally for me he was too slow; in some turn of events like redoing cutscenes and paths or the getting the lightbulb sequence (multiple times) going back and forth it feels sluggish
2- the QTE takes you too much by surprise! Especially Twila's: I panicked and started mashing while reading the instructions, and of course failed... I didn't understand that 1 the QTE would start only if you mashed a button 2 that you didn't need to use the sequence in a specific order but it was smash-smash-smash... I repeated it so many times because of this, cutscene and all... The way you anticipated the player in "My Neighbor Enide" that there would be QTE was perfect with the little minigame at the start, if you'd add an innocous one at the start of My Wishmaker it would be helpful
3- hybrid system of WASD, rpgmaker inputs and mouse movements gets confusing; since it's a point-and-click I'd suggest to encourage the mouse or the touchscreen instead, having the keyboard only for QTE. I never used WASD for movements because to get through doors and stairs you're forced to use the mouse
4- sometimes Reggie spawns in front of the doors and you have to move him manually with WASD to click on the door and exit - otherwise you keep clicking on Reggie and nothing happens
LOVELY DEMO/PROLOGUE!! I had a blast playing it and I am very excited to see where this goes! As usual your art is just amazing and I loved the expressions in the characters! This just feels really good! I was a little confused as I haven't played some of your other games but recognized the characters from the ones I haven't played but it seems like this works very standalone and the mystery is VERY INTERESTING. Anyways thanks for making great fun games Arcadekitten! Have a great day!
I'm SO excited to see what this game has coming for it!! Especially in terms of characters and how the story unfolds! Crossing my fingers some of my Reginald theories over the past few years were correct, lol!
Though the one criticism I have for the prologue has to be the final quick-time event. It's a little disappointing having needed to watch a playthrough to see the ending simply because I could not get it on my own. Perhaps it's truly nothing, but it feels a little disheartening when it seems one of few solutions has come through needing to download an auto-clicker to rightly finish the game
Maybe it's literally a skill issue on my end, but 🤷♀️
Either way I am still very excited to see how this story of all these amazing characters goes!
Is there any significance to Reggie on this page having two arms in the preview pictures instead of one? I'm assuming this was from an older development version of the game or something because everything else seems basically the same. Two armed Reggie is even still in the game files but this isn't something you can actually use in-game, which got me briefly all conspiratorial wondering if there was some hidden alternate reality NG+ mode or something where the arm chopping never happened.
YAYY I'm so glad it's out!! Very hyped for future installments. I love the point and click style for this one, and the art is so great!
The one thing I think could've been a little more clear is to clarify which lightbulb you're taking, such as "You took the lightbulb from the green container," because I wasn't sure if I clicked on the right container or if I misclicked and it just said "You took the lightbulb" or something akin to that.
Great game, though!! I'm very intrigued on where this is going! So happy to see Mary again <3
for a hint there’s a darker green shade on the bottom of the lamp on the desk that has an order of shapes you’re supposed to click on and that order of shapes matches the container.
THIS IS SO FIREEEEEEEEE! I swear I'm going to be watching my computer all summer to see what happens next. I can't wait to find out more about the pink
slight spoiler and I don’t know how to make things go behind a spoiler wall;
has anyone figured out the button mashing strat to get past Vasilis yet? I’ve tried alternating fingers or button mashing tools but keep dying to them.

Unfortunately I can't play the game as the Windows version won't extract from the file it downloads :(

The game is mazing per usual, the only issue I had was that Reggie was so slow. But otherwise, Great game 10/10!

Nice game & i like the puzzle...
Love the art style, and I desperately know how we even got ourselves into this situation.
that was fantastic!
Can't wait to see more

Wonderful prologue chapter I liked it very much when the wrong death text was mean to me. 11/10 please add more in the future.
Very interesting and visually well done game. Congrats!

QTEs have just been slightly updated to hopefully be more fair!
NEED THE REST OF THE CHAPTERS ASAP

I believe two-armed Reggie was for making spoiler-free teaser images with- like on the patreon and, of course, on the game page.

BANGER GAME AS ALWAYS I'M AMAZED BY THE FLUIDITY OF EVERYTHING IN IT

BUT ALL IS FORGIVEN I SEE MARY

Try smashing the Z button with two fingers at the same time, that worked for me to beat it.
ooooh ty for the tip! I’ll be sure to try that!
Edit: I tried it a few times and I finally got past it and past the full prologue! Thanks so much for the tip, I appreciate it!
