I left this comment on my review but I also want to put it here just in case! ^^
__

I got to watch this game a while ago on a let's play(I have ManlyBadassHero to thank.) Everything about your game is wonderful. The attention to detail is astounding and I was immediately immersed in the graphics and charming art style. RPGmaker games or indie games like this have always been my favorite for years, finding a high-quality game like "It's not me it's my basement" is like finding a twenty-dollar bill in your pocket.
My highest praise goes to the story and the characters. Everything about it had me hanging onto every detail--asking myself questions after question trying to unravel the mystery.
(Spoilers!!! for those reading ahead!)
I just want to say that you, the developer, are absolutely incredible, talented, and unfair in making me care about characters I've only known for such a short time. What am I supposed to do now? Go on with my life? I'm now emotionally invested with these characters and now I have to let them go? So unfair... ^^
Embery for instance--you portrayed trauma in a young child so perfectly. You showed how resilient yet so absolutely fragile they are during such a terrifying and mentally taxing time. I also love how you explained the way their mind took in and was dealing with the situation--how they knew what happened to their parents and what the monster was and at the same time didn't understand it--but by convincing themselves to endure and take it "day by day," they could avoid a worse situation. I know I worded all that poorly and I apologize, but I was immensely impressed by that scene and your understanding of the mind and how it tries to 'repair' itself.
Doctor D Light was the last character I expected to see in this game but boy was I NOT disappointed. I know the symbolism and purpose of the story being told would lose its purpose by saying this, but I choose to believe that Doctor D Light is still alive because I love him and his character with a mighty passion. His death was a little predictable as I could see where the story was going the moment he came onto the scene, but I was able to be pleasantly surprised later on by other things. Also, Embery's panic and dread after the doc died also had me in shambles more than I already was. Poor Embery.
The game's symbolism hit me hard. Every time I look back at this game it reminds me to stop and think about what I'm locking away or 'feeding' behind closed doors. It doesn't always work, but it's comforting to now have this metaphorical "basement" in my head where I can assess myself and my own fears(I have a lot of those).
Thanks for reading my long essay! I hope this gets to you arcadekitten! I genuinely loved this game and the meaningful story you told through it. You are a gem among developers and I hope you continue to prosper in your game-making. Aaand if you ever think about making another game or a spin-off with these characters of anything, you already have a sold game in my checkbook! (No pressure, of course, we creators have our own plans with the things we make ^^).

Another quick note: I've been taking a painting class this semester and the painting scene/metaphor REALLY struck out me more than just the underlining meaning, "You need to know what you're doing before you get started." Just like my professor told me, always think a few steps ahead!

This message did get to me, and it means the absolute world to me! Comments like these are what inspire and motivate me to keep working towards my game-dev dreams! Seriously, I had to pause reading this because I felt like I might cry from how nice it was. Thank you so very much, you'll never know how much this means to me!<3

https://sensorstechforum.com/oneeva-trojan-removal/

(1 edit)

windows defender tells me its an oneeva trojan just yesterday

Scanned it through hybrid analysis, if you run malwarebytes there is a chance heuristics scans may ping it as a virus, chances are this is a false positive.

It should be safe, but if you experience any unusual activity after running this game email it to c0rvidzz@protonmail.com and i'll reverse engineer it.

I see alot of people afraid of the game because of how the antivirus pings it, so i'm going to investigate it and give you guys a full report on my findings.

I drew Embry as good as I could but it was 2:00 at the time so I wasn't in the mood.

Edit: I mostly draw girls so I'm sorry that it looks like Embry is mostly a girl, I am very aware that they are nonbinary and I am not the best with drawing torso's, thank you for reading this.

(-2)

why does it think its a virus does this do things similar to undertale?

(-2)

i cant download it at all, my defender says it has a virus tho i trust this game

(+1)(-2)

I'm having issues with the download on windows. Windows flags it as a virus and therefore I cannot download it at all. I'm really interested in this game and would love to play but I am unsure of  a fix for this.

so, this comment has spoiler

So, what's the monster looks like actually? Some says Embry accidentally kill her parents, but I refuse that since the doctor also died. If the monster is her imagination, how did the key ended up in a box? Not to mention there are also some tentacles appear from the box when Embry try to check under her bed

I very much agree on this opinion, I feel like the monster/or monsters are aware of shape shifting and are using that do their advantage. We are aware of this from the scene where Embry was reading and the monster/or monsters sounded like Embry's mom, father, and yet Embry their self.  Yet I do support other peoples opinions like the one where Embry has a split personality that she just doesn't know about.

loved this game, the night I spent with this game was memorable

I love this game so much! I wish my internet was better so I could go live playing playing it but for some reason my internet doesn't like me that much so I can't. But I do recommend this game for anyone who hasn't played! I have played this game over and over because of how good it is!

Really amazing game. I enjoyed every single moment of it. Even made a playthrough. Hope you guys will watch it

i love this game so much so i will do a fan game, but a little bit different..

It's not letting me download the game, keeps saying that there's a virus and everything I try to do doesnt seem to do anything. I really wanna play this game ;~;

go to the windows search bar and search for windows security and go to virus and threat protection. go to manage settings and desatate it.

Really good game, everything I thought I knew was a lie. Good gameplay and good storyline. I will link my reaction below.

Thanks so much for making this game ArcadeKitten, it surprised me the level of detail you put in this game... did you draw all the characters?? Amazing! Such a deep story for such a cute style game. This horror RPG was fantastic, it´s been a while since I played a twisty little RPG with this kind of ending, truly unexpected. I loved the art and Embry´s personality, super cute. I hope you make more games in the future!

good game great story but you can clip trought the stairs and walk around in the darkness of the game. cool game

(+1)(-1)

The game was fun! There are a few minor things. When it comes to the stairway, it doesn't work properly. If you try to go back up for example you clip outside the map and you can walk in the black area. Besides that, my thoughts.. I liked it, although I am kind of confused about the ending. Maybe that's the whole point, that it is up for speculation, but I didn't understand what to get from the ending. But I liked the character, not only the art (and the name which I never heard before), but also because of the empathy I felt for the character. It's a cute, lovely game that I wish was longer, but also with more things to do. I hope your next game (or maybe even an extended version of this game or a sequel) will be just as fun!

I really love the look and feel of the game as well! Well done and I can't wait to see more of you!

Best game ever. And the first game i managed to play in a PC! And Embry is the cutest character i ever see!! And i don't know why but i ship Embry and Monster Embry SO HARD... I know im wierd.

[how many "and" did i use in this comment?]

I hope you can actually see this

I like the game a lot I hope the story continues

spoilers: by how they spoke to them I'm sure there's more to the story than meets the eye I really want to see more of this game.

Wonderful game. It gave me some chills I haven't gotten from any horror games in a good while! I notice Windows Defender seems to be throwing an antivirus flag on the download for it since the patch, however. It's likely a false positive but it might be a good idea to take a quick gander at that.

I love how the game is playing out and I'm hooked in the first half of the game!

I love this game and I look forward to playing arcadekitten's other games too!!! I bet they're great.

I really want a spinoff about Dr. D. Light, he's too great to not have one-

I think the ending is good like this because then people can make their own theories. They wanna theorize Dr. D. Light is still alive? They can. They wanna theorize the monster isn't real? They can. They wanna picture the monster to be a demon? They can. It's perfect for fan interaction.

Hi, I would be truly interested in translating INMIMB into Spanish, free of charge. I'll be more than glad to work with you! ^^

I leave you my e-mail for further information or details. d.patch@hotmail.es

me too

Same here LOL

Great game. Love all of it. I would love to see more from Embry and Dr Light maybe in a different game.

(+2)

Ikr! I can't get enough of these characters, they're awesome.

(+1)

ive heard about game named along the lines of trick and treat made by this creator with embry in an AU??? im not too sure.

Really loved it! The story is quite interesting, and engimatic at times. I'm still trying to make out what exactly happened there at the end for myself, because honestly, it could be anything, but I imagine it's something metaphorical.

Either way, I loved the characters, Embry is a precious lil' cinnamon bun and Dr. D. Light is just the best in every way. Despite it being so short, the story still manages to be engaging all the way through. The art, the music, it's all so charming, it fits like a glove! Thanks for this awesome experience. I'll definitely be checking out your other stuff.

(+1)

Well, I'd like to think about a "less" tragedy explanation. Read it if like, I'll make it short.

Her parent died, maybe from an accident or something. But Embry didn't want to accept it, as she said "I didn't see them die". The monster is just her depression, her trauma that she thought she could keep it down by feeding it. It is like how we delay and deny moving on. She also said that all doctors couldn't help her, this is just like how depressed people like to keep it for themself. Another thing, I think Dr.Light did not die (I don't want it to happen!), he just fell onto the sandwich that she has been making with jam and unconscious. In the end, she chooses to face it and go down the basement

Pretty good interpretation, makes sense for her character if you ask me. Poor Embry :c
